As a Brooklyn born and raised Haitian-American, the importance of education has been ingrained in Kim’s upbringing and has led her to passion for education. She holds a Master’s degree in History from The College at Brockport. Kim is proud to serve the predominantly Black neighborhood of Canarsie, located in her hometown of Brooklyn, New York, where she teaches AP World History. She takes pride in empowering her Black students in the knowledge of their history, encouraging them to be advocates for their learning, and continuing to equip them with the consciousness that they are the change that the world is so desperately seeking. As a diversity, equity, and inclusion facilitator in her school building, Kim is eager to do the work to end systemic racism in the United States. In her spare time, Kim enjoys spending time with her family and writing for her blog, kimberlymichel.com.
