Jonathan was born in Washington D.C..He grew up in Bethesda and East Lansing, Michigan where his mom raised him and his four siblings. Jonathan majored in history at Michigan State University and received his Masters from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied school desegregation policy. Jonathan has taught for 7 years in Charlotte, NC and Brooklyn, NY in both traditional public and charter schools. Jonathan has also worked for the New York City Office of District Planning, where he worked on urban school strategic planning in the Bronx. Jonathan is back in the classroom for the 2020-2021 school year teaching AP U.S. History and coaching history teachers as an instructional leader. Previously he has taught middle school history as well as AP US Government.
