Jillian Gaeta. Roots To Revolution Founder & Core Facilitator

Jillian Gaeta

(SHE/HER)

As a first generation college student, Jillian understands the power of a quality education. She has dedicated her career to ensuring her students use history as a tool to advocate for themselves. Jillian has worked in NYC public schools for over a decade starting her career in the South Bronx and then moving to her native borough of Brooklyn. She taught grades 5-12 in both American and Global history, but her greatest career achievement was securing 80 tickets for her students to see Hamilton. In addition to teaching children, Jillian has worked with graduate students learning to be social studies teachers. Currently she serves as the Associate Director of History for Achievement First middle schools, supporting history teachers across the network. A long time activist, through Roots to Revolution she hopes adults feel more empowered to engage their communities in liberation work. Jillian holds a bachelor's degree in International Affairs from Lafayette College, and a Masters of Education from Pace University. When she isn’t advocating for social change, Jillian loves to cook pasta from scratch and hang out with her adorable niece.
