Cat Lum (she/her)

As a Chinese American educator and strategist, Cat’s purpose in life is to use her passion for community and history to fight for racial equity. Her work seeks to empower our future leaders to build equitable spaces and to live in alignment with their purpose, fueled by her 7 years as a high school teacher and instructional coach with the Uncommon Schools network (where she loved teaching AP US History and leading DEI programming). Currently, she is the Director of Programs at nXu Education, a non-profit organization whose mission is to catalyze and equip youth and adults to explore, articulate, and pursue their purpose in life. As a consultant, she leads trainings in the corporate and non-profit sectors to support professionals to work effectively across lines of difference. Cat also serves on the Advisory Board for Teens Take Charge, a student-led movement fighting for educational equity in New York City. Cat holds a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University, an M.A. in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education, and a B.A. from Wesleyan University.
